Slip-Fix
Here’s how it works:
A slip fix, also known as a repair coupling or expansion coupling, is a handy fitting used for repairing breaks or leaks in PVC pipes. It consists of two main parts: a central section with telescoping ends and a tightening mechanism.
- Cut: The damaged section of the pipe is cut out, leaving a gap.
- Slide On: The slip fix is then slid onto one end of the exposed pipe.
- Expand: The central section of the slip fix is extended to bridge the gap and cover the other end of the cut pipe.
- Tighten: The tightening mechanism is engaged, securing the slip fix in place and creating a watertight seal around the pipe ends.
Slip fixes are popular for their ease of use and versatility. They can be adjusted to fit various gap sizes, making them ideal for quick repairs in tight spaces. However, they may not be suitable for high-pressure applications, as the seal relies on friction and compression.
